The brief from Archies was simple — the video had to be funny. Oh, and it needed to be the best video ODV had ever made.
We took that brief and ran.
Archies' commercial centres on fictional foot masseuse legend - Yanderas Janderas - who is frankly appalled at the number of people who have become victims of flat summer footwear.
Enter Archies’ new summer slides, released just in time for the US and European summer.
Our creatives knew that the video needed to stand out within a highly competitive ecommerce market. The script, written by one of ODV’s Creative Directors, Adrian Hooke, was crafted to stop users mid-scroll and build an iconic character that Archies could use again and again in their marketing.
It performed so well on the global stage that Yanderas Janderas Part 2 is in development as we speak!
Behind the scenes
We built a studio set with a 20x20 foot blue screen and over one tonne of sand to depict a tropical paradise. Honestly, the most challenging part of this shoot was figuring out how to relocate our miniature beach once we’d wrapped.

We hired a huge auditorium for our second commercial and filled it with extras to build the atmosphere of an inspirational conference full of adoring fans.
With a bigger set and more crew, the on-set interviews get a bit spicy.
Our third commercial with Archies took place in a tiny bookstore, forcing us to be creative with our set-ups. Pictured is a custom-made rig that allowed us to get one of our hero shots of the two arch-enemies meeting face-to-face.
All three videos have received masses of engagement on TikTok, including a shout out from TikTok themselves. Lead actor Anthony Butters was subject to an unending number of Jesus comparisons (understandable), and of course, special mention to that Old Spice comment.
